Canadians in Afghanistan
First off, I really don't agree with the troops being there. There's no point--it was America's war...let their troops die there.
Now, we've had a pretty rough weekend in Afghanistan. There was a death of a soldier due to a vehicle roll-over on thursday, friday saw a suicide bomber ramming a car into a tank (I believe), and today another attack at what was supposed to be a peaceful meeting.
Now, that being said, there's something that I'm right pissed off with. During a clip of an interview with CTV News, a Platoon commander described what happened, right before a troop was struck in the head with an axe. "The guy lifted up the axe, and called out Allah Akbar, the jihad prayer, before they do suicides, and he swung the axe into Trevor's head," said Capt. Kevin Schamuhn, the platoon commander..."
I'm sorry...the Jihad prayer?...the Holy war prayer? There is no prayer for a holy war (that I know of) The guy probably yelled out "Allah hu Akbar" which means God is great. Where is the 'Jihad' in that?
The Western world expects the Arab world to understand their 'right of freedom'--yet these men and women from the west (Canadian no less) who go to the Arab word to tear it apart, can't even take the time to learn the difference between the word Jihad, and the word Allah.
